The Train Station Cafe in Hanok Village: Nakwon Station
If you think you’ve seen every aesthetic cafe in Ikseon-dong, think again. While wandering through the winding alleys filled with Hanok rooftops, I stumbled upon a place that literally stops you in your tracks—because there are actual train tracks running right through the cafe!
Nakwon Station (낙원역) is a Hanok-style cafe designed to look like an old, abandoned whistle-stop station. It perfectly captures that “Seoul vibe” foreigners love: traditional Korean architecture mixed with a super modern, almost movie-set concept. It feels less like a coffee shop and more like a scene from a nostalgic K-drama.

The Vibe: A Railway in a Hanok
The moment you step in, you’re greeted by a railway track that cuts through the courtyard, lined with green plants and vintage station signs. Everyone—and I mean everyone—stops here to take that iconic photo walking along the tracks.
Inside, the mix of exposed wooden beams and modern glass walls creates a cozy yet open atmosphere. But the real showstopper is the dessert conveyor belt. Yes, you read that right! Just like a sushi train, the cakes and pastries slowly rotate on a rail along the bar counter. It’s hypnotic to watch and makes choosing your treat so much fun (and dangerous for your wallet!).

What to Order
The menu is just as photogenic as the interior. We tried their signature drink, the Maple Cream Coffee (₩7,200), also known as the “Coal Coffee.” It’s a rich espresso topped with a thick layer of sweet maple cream. It’s dark, moody, and absolutely delicious—perfect for sipping while watching the “trains” go by.

For dessert, you have to get the Green Grass Cake (₩8,000). It looks exactly like a patch of mossy grass taken right from the garden! But don’t worry, it’s actually a soft matcha sponge cake filled with cream. It’s not too sweet and pairs perfectly with the creamy coffee.
If you prefer something nuttier, the Peanut Cream Latte (₩7,200) is another crowd favorite, topped with a crumble that adds a nice crunch.

Final Thoughts
Nakwon Station is one of those rare spots where the drinks are actually as good as the aesthetics. The juxtaposition of sitting in a 100-year-old Hanok while watching a modern dessert train is an experience you can only have in Seoul.
It gets super busy on weekends, so I recommend coming right when they open at 11:30 AM to snag the best seat by the window overlooking the tracks.
