The honor comes after Rosé’s departure from YG Entertainment to join The Black Label and Atlantic Records, where she released her first solo album ‘Rosie’. The album’s lead single, ‘APT.’, a collaboration with Bruno Mars, became a worldwide phenomenon. It debuted at number eight on the Billboard Hot 100 and peaked at number five— the highest ranking ever for a female K-pop soloist. The track also set a record for the longest-charting K-pop song on the Billboard Hot 100, remaining on the chart for 45 weeks.
In a previous interview with The New York Times, Rosé reflected on the challenges of her trainee days, describing intense loneliness and self-doubt, but emphasized that she persevered because of her dream to become an artist. She shared that songwriting became a coping mechanism during difficult times, helping her process emotions and experiences.
