SEOUL, March 6 — BLACKPINK has set a new benchmark in K-pop history with their third mini-album ‘DEADLINE,’ achieving the highest first-week sales ever recorded for a girl group. According to Hanteo Chart, the album sold 1,774,577 copies between February 27 and March 5, surpassing the group’s previous record set by ‘BORN PINK’ by approximately 230,000 copies.
The milestone began even before the album’s release, as pre-orders neared the 1.9 million mark during the pre-sale period. Upon release, ‘DEADLINE’ sold an astonishing 1,461,785 copies on its first day alone, establishing a new record for the highest single-day sales by a K-pop girl group.

Chart dominance followed swiftly. The album secured both the weekly and monthly number-one positions on Hanteo Chart and achieved a triple crown on Circle Chart. Globally, ‘DEADLINE’ reached the top of iTunes album charts in 38 regions, while the music video for the title track ‘GO’ debuted at number one on YouTube’s worldwide trending list and was named the most-viewed video within 24 hours of release.
Critical reception has been largely positive. Rolling Stone praised the album as a triumphant return to peak form, noting that “BLACKPINK has returned at the peak of their prowess” and highlighting how the record showcases each member’s individuality while staying true to the group’s signature style. Billboard echoed the sentiment, calling ‘GO’ “the best track on the album” and “a song that truly represents BLACKPINK.”
