BTS Chile Concerts Approved for Estadio Nacional After Venue Dispute

Chile has cleared the BTS Chile concerts for Santiago’s Estadio Nacional after a venue dispute involving the national sports authority, fan protests and a revised technical proposal from the promoter. The shows are listed for October 14, 16 and 17, 2026, at Estadio Nacional, with Ticketmaster Chile naming the venue and dates on its official event page.¹

The approval followed an earlier refusal by the Instituto Nacional de Deportes, or IND, which had raised technical concerns about the proposed use of the stadium, including grass protection, a 360-degree stage and the venue’s existing sports and event commitments. YTN reported on July 6, 2026, that Chilean authorities said the concerts would proceed as planned after reviewing a new proposal.²

Estadio Nacional Approval: What Changed

The dispute became public after IND did not authorize the use of Estadio Nacional for the three BTS concerts scheduled in October 2026. BioBioChile reported on July 2 that IND cited grass protection, stage installation and removal time, and previously scheduled events, including Chile national team football activity and Teletón, as reasons for the refusal.³

Yonhap reported that IND described the decision as based on technical standards, with the proposed 360-degree stage seen as a risk to the recovery of the stadium grass and to the calendar for football and other large events.⁴ BioBioChile also reported that alternative areas such as Explanada Sur or Parque Sur were mentioned while the stadium approval was unresolved.³

The position shifted after Chilean authorities reviewed new technical material from DG Medios. Emol reported on July 5 that the government reopened the path for the concerts at Estadio Nacional after receiving a revised proposal. The Sports Ministry said the new stage plan changed the weight, load distribution, grass-protection measures and construction solutions, while final approval still depended on added technical documents and formal implementation commitments.⁵

YTN later reported that IND said in a July 5 statement that the organizer’s new proposal met regulatory requirements and guaranteed the use of the stadium, allowing the concerts to proceed as planned.²

Fan Protests and Government Response

The refusal prompted a public response from BTS fans in Chile. Yonhap reported that fans protested in central Santiago and marched near La Moneda, the presidential palace, over the decision not to authorize the national stadium. One fan, Daniela Trujillo, was quoted as saying, “We are very angry.”⁴

The issue also drew government attention before the final approval was reported. Ex-Ante reported on July 4 that Chile’s presidential office and the Metropolitan Regional Delegation publicly signaled that the BTS concerts in Chile would take place amid fan protests and political pressure. In a press statement, Germán Codina said, “We are going to have BTS in Chile.”⁶

That public stance did not remove the technical review from the process. Emol’s July 5 report said the revised proposal still required additional technical documentation and formal commitments, especially around structural load, grass protection and implementation.⁵ The later IND statement reported by YTN indicated that those conditions had been addressed sufficiently for the venue use to be approved.²

Ticket and Schedule Status

Ticketmaster Chile lists the event as “BTS – World Tour ARIRANG in Santiago” and shows performances on October 14, 16 and 17, 2026, at Estadio Nacional. The page states that ticketing is handled online through Ticketmaster Chile and includes information on ARMY membership presale, general sale, entry rules and age restrictions.¹

The available source material does not provide a separate statement from BTS or a detailed seating map beyond the Ticketmaster listing. It also does not include final technical drawings for the revised stage plan. The confirmed public record is that the venue dispute moved from IND refusal to government review and then to approval for Estadio Nacional use.
